Rental policy.
Everything you agree to when you rent from The Love Archives.
Booking
Your rental is reserved once payment is complete. Each typewriter is rented for one event at a time, and dates are booked first come, first served. If your date is unavailable, we'll contact you right away and offer another typewriter or a full refund.
Rental period
Your typewriter is scheduled to arrive by two days before your event. Please repack it in its original packaging and ship it back, using the prepaid return label, within two days after your event.
Cancellations and date changes
- 30 or more days before your event: full refund.
- 14 to 29 days before: 50% refund.
- Less than 14 days before, or after your typewriter has shipped: no refund.
- You can change your date once at no charge, up to 14 days before your event, if a typewriter is available for the new date.
If something's wrong on arrival
Please unbox and test your typewriter as soon as it arrives. If anything isn't working, email us within 24 hours of delivery with a photo or video. We'll help you troubleshoot, and if it can't be fixed before your event, we'll send a replacement if time allows or refund your rental.
Shipping delays
We ship with time to spare, but carrier delays are outside our control. If your typewriter doesn't arrive before your event, you'll receive a full refund.
Late returns
Returns shipped after the due date are charged $15 per day until the package is dropped off. A typewriter not shipped back within 14 days of the due date is considered lost.
Damage and loss
Normal wear from typing is expected and free. Damage beyond normal use, such as drops, spills, water or weather damage, or missing parts, may be charged at the cost of repair, up to the typewriter's replacement value of $250. Lost or unreturned typewriters are charged the full replacement value.
Card on file
The card you use at checkout is securely saved by our payment processor, Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. By completing your booking, you authorize The Love Archives to charge that card for late-return, damage or replacement fees under this policy. We'll inspect each typewriter when it comes back and email you photos and the amount before any charge is made.
Caring for your typewriter
- Keep it on a sturdy, covered table, away from drinks, rain and direct sun.
- Please don't force the keys or carriage, or try to repair it yourself.
- Children should type with an adult nearby.
